What you need to know
This is a working musicians' school, not a conservatory. From the first year a teenager is in a band every week, playing repertoire the group picks itself, and the year ends on stage at the school's Fi Fest rather than in a graded exam — the right fit for the kid who wants to gig rather than perfect a classical piece.

Barcelona's pioneering jazz and modern music school, teaching in El Raval since 1979. Its Escola Jove is the track for 12-17s: a four-year plan built on three subjects a week — an instrumental ensemble (combo), a one-to-one instrument or voice lesson, and musical language taught through rhythm work and creative projects — with Big Band added as an option in the later years. Every class runs between 18:00 and 20:00 so it fits around ESO and batxillerat.
