What you need to know
The Zoo casal for kids who want to know what a zookeeper does all day, in the quiet week between Christmas and New Year.
- Block or single day: in 2025-26 you could book the three days of December 29 to 31, the single day of January 2, or both
- Morning or full day: pickup at 13:00, or stay for lunch and afternoon games and workshops until 16:30. Drop-off is from 8:50 at the Zoo's Parc de la Ciutadella entrance
- Places are limited and sign-up is online. It asks for a child photo, health card, vaccination record and a parent's ID, so have scans ready
- Language: the Zoo does not say which language its educators use, so ask when you book if that matters to you

This Barcelona Zoo casal puts kids aged 5 to 14 in the zookeepers' shoes. Held at the Zoo, in Parc de la Ciutadella, it shows that looking after animals is more than cleaning and feeding: kids learn to observe the animals and see how enclosures, daily care and enrichment keep them well and help protect their species. Hours are 9:00 to 13:00, or 9:00 to 16:30 with lunch. In 2025-26 it ran as a three-day block, December 29 to 31 (€87 without lunch, €141 with; €81 and €126 for Zoo Club members), plus a separate single day on January 2 (€29 or €47; Zoo Club €27 or €42). Large and single-parent families paid less. Dates and prices shown are from 2025-26. The 2026-27 edition is usually announced around November 20.
