Mooby's cinemas run the summer's big kids' releases in English. There's a session every day, and we point you to the earliest one so you beat the worst of the heat and still make dinner. Five of them start around 4pm: four up at Balmes in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, and Toy Story 5 down at Aribau in the Eixample. Harry Potter is a one week evening run at 6:20pm, so check the time and the cinema on each card.

I like the Mooby theaters when it's hot outside and there's a kid-friendly movie playing. The picks below are the ones I have on my go-to list when I need some options...

Seven years on, the gang faces something no toy has beaten: a screen. Woody, Buzz and Jessie find that holding a kid's attention is a different job when the competition glows and never runs out of tricks. Andrew Stanton and McKenna Harris direct, with Hanks, Allen and Cusack back alongside Greta Lee and Conan O'Brien, in the original English with Spanish subtitles. One thing if you have been before: the screenings have moved from Balmes to Mooby Aribau in the Eixample.

Disney's live-action remake puts Catherine Laga'aia in the role Auli'i Cravalho originated, with Dwayne Johnson back as Maui. A young navigator sails past the reef her island has never crossed to find the demigod whose theft set a blight loose on the ocean. Thomas Kail directs, and the songs survive intact, which is the case for hearing it in the original English.

The shameless, absurd, supposedly true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became stars, lost the lot, let a pack of monsters loose, and had to reunite to clean up their own mess. Pierre Coffin directs and voices them, with Christoph Waltz and Jeff Bridges alongside. The jokes run on English delivery, so the original audio earns its keep. At 89 minutes, an easy first feature for younger kids.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone comes back to the big screen for Mooby's Back to Hogwarts week, a 25th-anniversary run timed to Hogwarts' September 1 term start. The VOSE session plays the original English audio with Spanish subtitles, so your kid hears Daniel Radcliffe, Maggie Smith and Alan Rickman the way the film first sounded, with the John Williams score filling a proper cinema. It is the full theatrical cut with no interval, so pack snacks and plan a later dinner.

Peter Parker is an adult now, alone, having wiped himself from the memories of everyone he loved to keep them safe. He fights crime in a New York that no longer knows his name, and the strain triggers a physical change that puts him in danger. Destin Daniel Cretton directs, with Tom Holland and Zendaya back alongside Mark Ruffalo. At two and a half hours and a darker turn, this is the one for older kids.
