What you need to know
At €8 a morning last year, this is a low-cost way to spend part of the break inside the city's own archaeological sites, with a different hands-on theme each day.
- Book by the day: every workshop is its own ticket, so you can pick one morning or all of them.
- Ages 6 to 12, drop-off only: parents do not stay.
- In Catalan: all workshops are run in Catalan.
- A new theme each day: last year kids built a 1700s diorama, drew a map of the El Born dig and made chocolate lollipops.
About
"Arqueonautes" is the Christmas program of MUHBA, the Barcelona History Museum: standalone morning workshops, not a week-long camp. Each one takes an innovation that changed Barcelona, such as Roman aqueducts or the arrival of chocolate, and pairs a visit to the archaeological site with a project children take home. Children attend on their own and bring a snack. Families book each date separately, and last year booking opened in mid-November.
