KIDS Barcelona helps families find things to do with kids in Barcelona. This page explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us at hello@kids.barcelona.

Who we are

KIDS Barcelona (kids.barcelona and our Thursday email) is run by two parents in Barcelona, Ben and Rahim. Together we are responsible for your personal information (the “controllers” under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR).

Contact for anything about your data: hello@kids.barcelona

What we collect

When you sign up for our email (on our website, or through a sign-up form on Facebook or Instagram):

  • Your email address.
  • Your name, if you give it.
  • That you agreed to receive our email, and when.
  • Where you signed up (for example, which page or which ad), so we know which of our efforts work.

If you create an account or answer our optional questions, such as your kids' ages or birth years, your neighborhood, or your kids' school. We use these only to show you more relevant plans. You can skip them.

When you read our emails: our email service records whether an email was opened and which links were clicked.

When you visit our website:

  • Anonymous visit statistics through Plausible Analytics. Plausible does not use cookies and does not identify you personally. We see things like which pages are popular and which country visits come from.
  • Error reports through Sentry, so we can fix bugs. These can include technical details like your browser type and the page where the error happened.

When you write to us: your email and whatever you choose to tell us.

We do not ask for information about your children beyond ages and age ranges. We never ask for children's photos or contact details.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers who handle data for us under contract. They may only use it to provide their service to us.

  • Beehiiv (United States) sends our emails and stores our subscriber list.
  • Resend (EU) sends transactional emails, like login codes.
  • Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram). If you sign up through a form in one of our ads on Facebook or Instagram, Meta collects your details on our behalf and passes them to us. Meta also handles that information under its own Data Policy.
  • Plausible Analytics (European Union) gives us anonymous website statistics.
  • Sentry (United States) gives us error reports.
  • Our hosting and storage providers, which run the website and store images.

We may also share information if the law requires it.

Transfers outside the EU

Some of these providers are based in the United States. When your data leaves the European Economic Area, we rely on the safeguards the GDPR allows, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Email subscribers: for as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you right away and delete or anonymize your details within 12 months, except for a record that you unsubscribed, so we don't email you again by mistake.
  • Account details: until you delete your account or ask us to delete them.
  • Messages you send us: up to 2 years, unless we need them longer to finish helping you.

Your rights

You can, at any time and for free:

  • Unsubscribe, with the link at the bottom of every email.
  • See the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that's wrong.
  • Delete your information.
  • Object to how we use it, or ask us to limit it.
  • Get a copy of it to take somewhere else.
  • Withdraw your consent. This doesn't affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

To use any of these rights, email hello@kids.barcelona. We reply within one month.

If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es). We'd appreciate the chance to fix it first.

Cookies

Our website analytics (Plausible) do not use cookies. If you sign in, we use a cookie to keep you signed in. That cookie is needed for the site to work, so it doesn't need your consent.

Children

KIDS Barcelona is for parents and caregivers. Our email and accounts are not meant for children under 14, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell subscribers in our email.
