Built on the site of the old Pegaso truck factory, the park wraps a central pond and a water channel crossed by small bridges. Kids head for El Pop, a giant metal octopus with a rope-net head and six tentacle slides, plus a sand pit, swings, a trampoline, two zip lines, and a traffic circuit with painted roads for bike practice.
Barcelona's newest big park, opened in 2025 on the once traffic-choked Plaça de les Glòries, with around 1,000 young trees linking the Eixample, Poblenou and Sant Martí under the Torre Glòries. The heart of it for families is a play area of nearly 2,000 m² for ages 0 to 12, with about 35 play elements, tall metal slides built into the old Olympic traffic ring, climbing nets and soft rubber surfacing, plus a summer water-play zone. There are also ping-pong tables, basketball hoops and a hectare of open lawn for picnics and running.
The largest of the six play areas in Parc de Joan Miró, shaded by tall pines and palms. Kids get a sand-floored playground with slides, swings and a climbing structure built from thick red ropes, plus room to run. It is also the park's accessible play area, so children with reduced mobility can join in, and kiosk bars nearby serve coffee and snacks.
At the heart of this large park is La Balena, a pair of giant whale-shaped structures kids climb by rope net, slide down and crawl inside, where younger ones find a boat, spinning wooden fish and a moving fin. Around it sit balance logs, two trampolines and a zip line, with several more playgrounds, two lakes and a palm grove nearby. A water-play fountain runs in summer.
A refurbished play area behind the Museu Blau, built from tall wood-and-steel towers that read like a cross between a castle and a rocket. The centerpiece links them by bridges and stairs, with a long spiral stainless-steel tube slide and a steel climbing pyramid, alongside separate zones for younger children. It sits right by the sea, so there is almost always a breeze.
A 17-hectare hilltop forest park whose star for kids is the Tren de l'Oreneta, a working miniature railway run by volunteers since the early 1980s. Children ride real scale-model trains, often steam-hauled, along a 636-meter track that winds through tunnels and over bridges on a ten-minute loop. The train runs Sunday mornings, weather permitting, with several playgrounds along the wooded paths.
Five hectares of Mediterranean woodland climb a 178-meter hill to a mirador overlooking the city, sea, Sagrada Família and Tibidabo. Two play areas sit below: a large metal tunnel-and-slide on sand for older kids, and gentler wooden swings and a see-saw for toddlers. Petanque courts, ping-pong tables, outdoor gym equipment and off-leash dog areas round it out.
A large neighborhood square on the edge of the Raval, reorganized in 2017 around a children's play area with two zones: gentler equipment for under-5s and a more challenging structure for older kids. Beyond the playground there is a basketball court, petanque courts and plenty of benches for parents. The paved areas catch full sun, so mornings are the most comfortable time to visit.
A fenced play area in the gardens of Plaça de la Sagrada Família, directly facing the basilica's Passion façade. Younger kids get a slide tower and spring riders, and the square around it adds gravel paths, lawns, benches under mature shade trees, and a drinking fountain next to the play zone. A classic stop before or after a basilica visit.
Set inside Jean Nouvel's shade-focused park, this is a scatter of small play areas rather than one big structure. The most popular is a molded grassy mound with a slide built into the slope, alongside sand pits, swings and climbing frames. Between the zones, kids explore the park's quirks: a path that spirals down into a crater-like sandpit and ivy archways that feel like secret tunnels.
