What you need to know

  • Best watched from the Arc de Triomf end, Passeig de Lluís Companys is wide enough to step back with kids.
  • Loud and high-energy, truck-sized floats blast music, so pack ear defenders for sensitive kids.
  • Better for older kids, expect flamboyant costumes and a big evening crowd.

About

Barcelona's Pride parade takes over the city center on Saturday evening, rolling out from Plaça de la Universitat and down Gran Via before it finishes near the Arc de Triomf. Expect truck-sized floats, live music, dancing and a sea of color, with plenty of local families in the mix alongside the crowds. It's a warm, high-energy celebration rather than a quiet kids' outing, so it suits older children who can handle noise and big crowds. The most comfortable place to watch with kids is the finish end at Passeig de Lluís Companys, a wide, pedestrian boulevard with grass and shade where you can step back from the crush when you need to.
