Barcelona's oldest Christmas market, running since 1786, features around 300 stalls selling nativity figures, Tió de Nadal logs, handmade decorations, and craft gifts across Avinguda de la Catedral. The Tió Gegant offers children a free interactive experience where they queue to "feed" the giant Christmas log and receive a small gift. Christmas Traditions Day (12 December) includes the Carassa de Nadal procession distributing sweets, children's theatre, and performances by the Esbart Català de Dansaires kids' dance group.
Around 120 stalls fill the streets around the Sagrada Família basilica, selling nativity-scene figures, Christmas decorations, greenery, and craft gifts. Father Christmas makes occasional appearances to collect children's letters. The market has run since 1962 and offers a smaller, more relaxed atmosphere than the Cathedral market, with the basilica as backdrop.
Barcelona's oldest Christmas street fair runs along Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes from late December through Three Kings' Day (6 January), the traditional present-giving occasion in Catalan culture. Two long rows of stalls between Carrer de Muntaner and Carrer de Calàbria sell costume jewellery, decorations, clothes and ceramics alongside plenty of toys, sweets and small gifts — and you can stop for chocolate and freshly made xurros right at the market. Running since 1877, it's an easy, free outdoor wander in the heart of the Eixample.
Port Vell Christmas Fair features a big wheel, the city's largest Christmas tree, a floating nativity scene, and family activities across the waterfront. The fair occupies Moll de la Fusta and Moll Bosch i Alsina, offering less crowded alternatives to the Cathedral market while maintaining full Christmas programming throughout the season.
