Where should we sit with kids?

The main Blanes beach gives the full-frontal view; head toward the port end, since the stretch beside Sa Palomera is closed off as the launch security zone and the sand nearest it packs out first. For more space, walk down S'Abanell, the long beach southwest of the rock: the farther you go, the thinner the crowd, and it has the best bathrooms, ramps and adapted facilities. For a quieter perch away from the bangs, the castle hill above town works, but it's a climb and a dark walk down after.

How early do we need to arrive?

Be in town by early evening: road closures ring the center from about 7pm, and that leaves a calm window for dinner on the promenade or a picnic on the sand. Aim to have your patch claimed by 9:30pm for the 10:30pm start. Saturday and Sunday draw the biggest crowds of the five nights; the Thursday opener and Monday closer are the calmer picks with small kids.

Where should we park?

The safe bet is the free esplanade lot at the old pavilion, around 1,000 spaces opened just for the five nights. The S'Abanell-smart option: come in from the west on the recommended access streets (Av. Europa, Mas Vaixeller, Av. Joan Carles I or Anselm Clavé); the first two put you on the S'Abanell side of town, so you park peripherally, walk straight down to our recommended stretch of sand without crossing the packed center, and after the show you walk back away from the biggest crowd flow. With kids, that last part is worth a lot. Avoid the Plaça Catalunya underground garage: it sits inside the restricted security core, and even if you get in early, getting out is at the mercy of the closures. Wherever you park, expect about 30 minutes before cars can move after the show. The R1 train does reach Blanes, but the station is 2 km from the beach and there is no confirmed late train back to Barcelona, so don't build the night around it.

Is it too loud for little kids?

Accepted Answer

Each show runs about 20 loud minutes and the bay carries the sound. Bring proper ear protection for under-5s. If your child is noise-sensitive, watch from the far end of S'Abanell, a couple of kilometers from the launch rock: you keep the whole sky and lose most of the boom.
