Which workshop works for younger kids?

Chocolate Artists is open from age 3. Cookie Decorating and Xoco Trencadís start at age 6. Lollipops is listed as 3+ on the museum's English and Catalan pages but 6+ on its Spanish page and booking site, so check before booking with a younger child.

Does the parent need a ticket too?

Yes. Kids under 16 must come with at least one adult, and that adult buys a workshop ticket as well. Prices are per person.

What language are the workshops in?

Catalan and Spanish. The museum's booking site describes all four workshops as "in Catalan and Spanish" and tags each session as Catalan; no English session is listed. After a short spoken introduction, the rest is hands-on, with a parent working next to each child.

Can we change or cancel?

Tickets are not refunded unless the museum cancels. Changes need at least 48 hours' notice by email to info@museuxocolata.cat. For allergies, write to reserves@museuxocolata.cat before booking.

About

Castaween is the Museu de la Xocolata's mix of the Castanyada and Halloween, and for two long weekends it runs spooky chocolate workshops for families. Kids and parents work side by side, piping melted chocolate into spiderwebs, witch hats and pumpkin faces, or decorating butter cookies with ghosts and bats. Most sessions start with a short explanation of where cacao comes from and how chocolate is made, then move straight to the hands-on part. One workshop, Xoco Trencadís, adds a bit of Barcelona history: kids learn about Modernisme and build a broken-tile mosaic, the style Gaudí made famous, out of colored chocolate.
