Does it work for 6-year-olds?

It's set for ages 6 and up and works best from about 8, for kids who can sit through a concert without a break. The moving musicians and projections help hold attention, but it's not a high-energy show.

Is there a break during the show?

No, it runs straight through with no intermission. Arrive 15 minutes early so kids can use the bathroom first.

Is there a difference between the two shows?

No, both are the same performance. The earlier one suits kids who get hungry or tired before lunch.

Will my kid enjoy it without knowing anything about Catalan architecture?

Yes, no background needed. The show tells its story through music, projections and movement, not through the architect's biography.

What you need to know

Not a sit-still concert: musicians walk around the room while projections turn it into modernist buildings and landscapes, which helps kids who fidget at a normal concert.
Music in time order: 25 pieces run from the Renaissance to today, so kids hear how music changed over the centuries.
Close to the players: it's in the Petit Palau, the smaller hall inside the Palau de la Música, so kids sit near the action.

About

Live musicians move around an open room while projections recreate spaces designed by architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. The program runs in order from Renaissance pieces through Bach and Beethoven to Bobby McFerrin, so kids hear how music changed over time. Along the way they learn the story of the Palau de la Música and how color, shape and sound fit together.
