Is this worth the drive from Barcelona with kids?

Salt is about 100km north, so plan on 1.5 hours each way depending on traffic. If your kids are 8+, like watching bodies move, and can sit still for just over an hour, yes. If they need constant stimulation or you're looking for something closer, skip it. The theater itself is nice but it's not a destination with other stuff to do nearby, so you're really going for this one show.

Will my 8-year-old actually understand what's happening?

It's not a story with a plot, so there's nothing to "get" in that sense. What works for kids that age is the visual spectacle: dancers moving fast, lots of colored lights, loud music. If your kid likes watching people move (think parkour videos, gymnastics, skateboarding), they'll probably be into it. If they need dialogue or a clear narrative, they'll get bored.

What's parking like at the theater?

Two free car parks are within a short walk of the theater: Antiga Fàbrica Gassol (Carrer de Pere Bosch i Gimpera, 24) and Parc del Rec Monar (Carrer del Rec, 36). The theater recommends heading straight to Antiga Fàbrica Gassol. Note that entry is not allowed once the show has started.
