Can my 6-year-old join the dance workshop, or is it more for older kids?

Yes, the workshop is open to everyone, no experience needed, solo or in pairs. Each session is a quick 30 minutes, so it moves fast but won't outlast a young kid's attention. The 8pm session works better for younger kids than the 9:30pm one, which runs close to bedtime.

Do I need to buy tickets in advance or can we just show up?

The workshops and most concerts are free, but spots are limited, so arrive a little before the session you want. The one paid concert is La Perra Blanco at €9, and it runs 10 to 11pm, well past most bedtimes; book it on the CaixaForum website if it's the draw for you.

Is there food at the venue, or should we eat before we go?

On the summer nights CaixaForum serves tapas from 6pm, so you can make dinner part of the plan. If your kids are picky eaters, eating before you arrive is safer.

How do we get there with kids?

Take the metro to Espanya (L1 or L3); CaixaForum is a flat 5-minute walk from Plaça Espanya, so no big hill to climb with kids. If you drive, there's paid parking at the venue, but it can fill up on summer evenings, so arrive early.

Two workshop times, 8pm and 9:30pm, so you can skip the early crowds.
No dance experience needed: kids learn moves alongside parents who grew up on this music.
Hairstyling station included, so the kids walk out with a proper 50s quiff to show off.

About

CaixaForum closes its summer nights with rock 'n' roll. The part for families is the dance workshop in the entrance hall: open to everyone, solo or in pairs, no experience needed, turns, bounces and lots of energy. A 50s hairstyling station next to it lets kids get the quiff before they hit the floor. Live rockabilly and doo-wop fill the rest of the night, and a calm space stays open.
