Can my 6-year-old join the dance workshop, or is it more for older kids?

Yes, the workshop is genuinely open to everyone, no experience needed, solo or in pairs. Each session is a quick 30 minutes, so it moves fast but won't outlast a young kid's attention. The 8 pm session works better for younger kids than the 9.30 pm one, which runs close to bedtime.

Do I need to buy tickets in advance or can we just show up?

The workshops and most concerts are free, but spots are limited, so arrive a little before the session you want. The one paid concert is La Perra Blanco at €9, and it runs 10 to 11 pm, well past most bedtimes; book it on the CaixaForum website if it's the draw for you.

Is there food at the venue, or should we eat before we go?

On the summer nights CaixaForum serves tapas from 6 pm, so you can make dinner part of the plan. If your kids are picky eaters, eating before you arrive is safer.

How do we get there with kids?

Take the metro to Espanya (L1 or L3); CaixaForum is a flat 5-minute walk from Plaça Espanya, so no big hill to climb with little ones. If you drive, there's paid parking at the venue, but it can fill up on summer evenings, so arrive early.

CaixaForum closes its summer nights with an evening of rock 'n' roll. The one to circle for families is the free dance workshop in the entrance hall: two 30-minute sessions at 8 pm and 9.30 pm, open to everyone, solo or in pairs, no experience needed, just turns, bounces and a lot of energy. Next to it, a 50s hairstyling station runs from 7.30 to 10 pm, so the kids can get the quiff before they hit the floor. Concerts carry the rest of the night: Doc & The Mads play 50s rock and rhythm and blues in the entrance patio at 7.30 and 10 pm, Velvet Candles sing doo-wop harmonies at 8.15 and 9.30 pm, Mario Cobo tours the roots of rock guitar at 8.45 pm, and La Perra Blanco's explosive rockabilly closes in the auditorium from 10 to 11 pm (€9, and well past most bedtimes). The exhibitions and a calm space stay open until 11 pm.
