My kid speaks more English than Catalan. Will they follow it?

Yes. The story is told mostly through dance and puppetry with very little spoken text, so kids who don't speak Catalan or Spanish stay engaged. The animals and their movements carry the plot.

Will a restless 3-year-old make it through 45 minutes?

Most do. The puppets and live music keep younger kids hooked, and the venue is small and cozy, so there's less pressure if your child needs to shift around. If yours has sat through a 30-minute show before, this should work.

Is Sant Andreu Teatre easy to reach with kids?

Yes. It's a 5-6 minute walk from Onze de Setembre (L9/L10) or Fabra i Puig (L1), and Rodalies trains stop at Fabra i Puig too. It's a quiet residential area, and there's paid parking at the theater and at Plaça de Can Fabra if you drive.

Can we just show up, or should we book ahead?

Book ahead. There are only two performances (July 9 and 10) and family shows at the Grec Festival fill up, so buy online rather than counting on the door.

About

Puppet creator André Mello, musician Jim Pinchen, and choreographer Thomas Noone present a new work featuring the protagonist Giraffe alongside Lion, Turtle, Elephant, and Snake. When these animals gather at a dance party, Giraffe discovers she moves differently from the others. The performance combines dance and puppetry in an intimate format exploring self-acceptance and difference.
