Is this circus show for 10-year-olds, or more for teenagers?

It works from 10, but it's experimental circus, not acrobatics and clowns. Your kid needs to be comfortable with slower, artistic movement and glass objects as props. If they like dance or visual art more than traditional circus tricks, they'll get more out of it.

Is there anything to do at the venue before or after the show?

The Mercat de les Flors is in Montjuïc, so you could explore the park, museums, or gardens before or after. There's a café at the venue, but plan to eat elsewhere if you want a full meal.

What you need to know

Arrive 15 minutes early: latecomers wait for a natural break to be seated, and there aren't many.
Needs no Catalan: the show is visual, so it works whatever language your child speaks.
No intermission: the show runs straight through.

About

Sklenka Melta is contemporary circus built around blown glass. Four performers move through a stage of fragile bowls, tubes, and sculptural forms, balancing on, handling, and deliberately breaking them. Created by Vivian Friedrich and her company DiffractionArt, the piece is closer to performance art than acrobatics, exploring control and letting go. Grown-ups won't find it a chore. Almost wordless and visually driven throughout.
