Do we need to know Catalan or Spanish to play?

Most board games need little language once someone shows you the rules. The official site runs in English, Catalan and Spanish, so ask at the table which language the teacher can explain in.

Do we need to register ahead of time?

No. You can walk in and sit at a table. Only tournaments and a few special activities need sign-up on the official site. Capacity is limited, so you may wait at the door at busy times.

My kids are small. Is there something for them?

Yes. Dauet is the area for ages 3 to 10, with games chosen for that age and people on hand to explain them.

About

Barcelona's board game festival has hundreds of games to sit down and play, split into themed areas: Dauet for younger kids, giant games, traditional Catalan games, role-playing, a calm corner and tables of unreleased titles. Volunteers and publishers teach the rules at the tables.
