Upcoming: Living Nativity Scenes Near Barcelona

A pessebre vivent is a living nativity scene: a whole village, or a patch of forest, turned into Bethlehem for a few winter evenings. Neighbors of every age play shepherds, angels and Roman soldiers, and around the manger there are bakers, blacksmiths and washerwomen working at old trades, lit by torches and lanterns. Families walk the route from scene to scene in the dark, which is half the magic for kids. The dialogue is in Catalan, but the story needs no translation, and spotting the donkeys, the sheep and the baby in the manger keeps small children busy all the way around.
