Will my kid sit through a two-hour film at 4:20pm?

The songs and ocean action keep it moving, and the 4:20pm start lands before kids get tired. You are out by around 6:15pm. If they have enjoyed other Disney films, this one holds them.

Does the English version keep the songs?

Yes. The VOSE session plays the original English voices and songs with Spanish subtitles, so your kid hears the numbers they know.

Is it a good way to escape the heat?

About

Disney's live-action remake puts Catherine Laga'aia in the role Auli'i Cravalho originated, with Dwayne Johnson back as Maui. A young navigator sails past the reef her island has never crossed to find the demigod whose theft set a blight loose on the ocean. Thomas Kail directs, and the songs survive intact, which is the case for hearing it in the original English.
