Can we bring our own food and drinks?

Yes, bringing your own picnic is part of the tradition. If you'd rather not pack anything, there's an on-site stand with artisan pizzas, plant-based burgers, vegetable nuggets, and hummus with nachos.

How do we get there and is there parking?

Bus 150 runs up from Plaça Espanya and Paral·lel and is the easiest option; a special €2 bus brings you back down to Plaça Espanya and Plaça Catalunya after the film. If you drive, follow signs to Montjuïc Castle and use the free parking zones a 5-10 minute walk below it.

Do younger kids need a ticket?

Children from age six need their own ticket. Note the films are screened in original version with subtitles and each session lists its own recommended age, so check the line-up before picking a night for little ones.

Sala Montjuïc is Barcelona's open-air summer cinema, screening films in the moat below Montjuïc Castle on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from July 10 to August 5, 2026. Each night opens with a live concert at 20:45 before the film starts at 22:00, and the lawn fills with families and friends laying out picnic blankets on the grass. Films are shown in their original version with subtitles. Bring a blanket and your own food, or buy artisan pizzas and plant-based burgers on-site.
