Name: Sant Jordi: Meet Children's Book Authors on Las Ramblas
Start: 2027-04-23
End: 2027-04-23
Location: La Rambla, Passeig de Gràcia & Rambla Catalunya

Question 1

How crowded does it actually get?

Accepted Answer

It's packed. Las Ramblas especially turns into a slow shuffle between 11am and 5pm, so go early morning or after 6pm if you want to move around without losing your kid in the crowd. The side streets off Passeig de Gràcia are slightly less intense but still busy.

Question 2

Will my 4-year-old actually enjoy this or is it more for older kids?

Accepted Answer

The rose-buying and book-picking parts work fine for 4-year-olds, and the dragon crafts at bookstores are designed for that age. The author signings are better for kids 7 and up who can actually sit through it. If your kid likes picking out books and doing crafts, they'll have a good time.

Question 3

Do I need to plan ahead to meet an author or can we just show up?

Accepted Answer

Most signings happen without advance booking, but popular children's authors get lines fast. Check the Barcelona tourism website closer to the date for the author schedule, then arrive early if there's someone your kid wants to meet. Smaller bookstores often have less crowded signings than the big chains.

Question 4

What should I budget for books and roses?

Accepted Answer

Roses run 3 to 5 euros depending on the vendor. Books vary wildly, but you can find kids' books for 8 to 15 euros at the stalls. Plan 30 to 50 euros if you want to grab a couple of books and a nice rose without overthinking it.
