5pm on Friday to Sunday, December 18 to 20, and on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 22 and 23. Christmas Day and Saturday, December 26 start at 7pm, and the last show is at noon on Sunday, December 27. The December 15 to 17 shows are at 8pm.

The Nutcracker is the ballet most kids meet first. On Christmas Eve a girl named Clara is given a wooden nutcracker; at midnight the toys come alive, the Nutcracker battles the Mouse King, and he turns into a prince who takes her through a snowy forest to the Land of Sweets. There are no spoken words, just Tchaikovsky's music and dancing, so it works in any language. Many kids already know the Sugar Plum Fairy tune without knowing where it comes from. The Kyiv Ballet, a Ukrainian company that tours Spain every winter, dances the classic version, full of snowflakes, toy soldiers and big tutus.
