What you need to know

  • Free, all ages, with around 22,000 spots on the sand and no reserved seating, so arrive early.
  • Bring layers and a blanket, because the sea breeze cools things off fast once the sun sets.
  • Accessible by design, with a reserved reduced-mobility area and devices for deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors, first-come, first-served.

About

Clàssica a la Platja wraps up tonight: at 21:00 the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ludovic Morlot, plays a free hour of Rachmaninoff, Dvořák and Tchaikovsky right on the sand at Sant Sebastià Beach. It's the second and last of this year's two beach concerts (the Liceu orchestra opened the series on Wednesday), so there's no catching this one next weekend. Around 22,000 people fit on the sand with no reserved seating; bring a blanket and arrive early for a decent spot.
