Do we need to arrive super early, or is it fine to show up at 8:45?

Arrive by 8:15 if you want a decent spot. The organizers expect about 22,000 people and it's free, so the beach fills up fast. If you're okay sitting further back or standing, 8:30 still works, but don't cut it closer than that or you'll be stuck in the back rows.

Is there parking nearby, or should we take the metro?

Take the metro. L4 to Barceloneta is about a 10-minute walk to the beach, and parking in Barceloneta fills up fast on summer nights. If you must drive, there's the APK2 lot at Plaça del Mar, but arrive by 7:30 to have a shot at a space.

Can we bring food and drinks, or is there a vendor there?

Bring your own. Pack snacks, plenty of water and a blanket or cushion, since you'll be sitting on sand for about an hour. A lot of families bring a small cooler and make an evening of it.

Clàssica a la Platja wraps up tonight: at 21:00 the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ludovic Morlot, plays a free hour of Rachmaninoff, Dvořák and Tchaikovsky right on the sand at Sant Sebastià Beach. It's the second and last of this year's two beach concerts (the Liceu orchestra opened the series on Wednesday), so there's no catching this one next weekend. Around 22,000 people fit on the sand with no reserved seating; bring a blanket and arrive early for a decent spot.
