Is it scary for kids?

It is dark. The story ends with the women being condemned, and there is fire, smoke and dramatic lighting. Kids who like spooky stories tend to be fine, while sensitive kids under 7 may find it a lot.

Which session should we pick with younger kids?

The 9pm one. Viladrau is about an hour's drive from Barcelona, so even the early session makes for a late night. Save the 10:30pm session for older kids.

Can we buy tickets in person?

Yes. At the Espai Montseny tourist office in Viladrau until Oct 30, at the info stand of the Fira de la Castanya on Oct 24 and 25, and on Oct 31 from 11am to 8pm at the stand in Plaça Major. Capacity is limited, so buying online is safer.

Is there anything after the show?

At midnight there is a Ball de Pagès, a traditional Catalan folk dance, in Plaça Major with the group Tururut Bonaigua.

A staged street show of music, dance, light and fire. Fourteen women of Viladrau gather for their last meeting before being condemned for witchcraft, recalling the persecution of 1618 to 1622. Viladrau executed more accused witches than any other town in Catalonia. The tone is dark local history rather than a costume party, so it suits kids who handle spooky stories.
