Which shows suit a preschooler?

Sunday's 10:45am show, Lua by Alba Sarraute at Plaça de la Vila, is recommended for kids up to 6. The 30-minute La Petite Personne (Saturday 1:30pm and 5pm) and the 40-minute Dolores (Sunday 11:30am) are short all-ages shows.

Do we need tickets for everything?

No. Several shows in the small circus tent at Plaça Joan Serra and at Escoles Velles are free with limited capacity, so arrive early. Shows at the two theaters and the Chapikiosque in Parc Pau Casals are ticketed through Entrapolis, linked from each show on the program page.

Do the kids need to understand Catalan?

Mostly no. Clowning is largely physical and many shows use little or no text. A few evening shows are in Spanish, and those are marked 12 and up.

How does the festival end?

On Sunday from 11:30am a clown train parades through the streets of both villages for about two hours, followed at 1:30pm by a dance and batucada with Escandalera.

Circ Cric's yearly festival of women clowns fills two Montseny villages, Sant Esteve and Santa Maria de Palautordera, with clown, circus and street shows by artists from Catalonia and abroad. Daytime weekend shows in the small circus tent, parks and squares suit families, and much of it is physical comedy that needs no Catalan. Evening theater shows lean toward teens and adults.
