Are the market and the rink in the same place?

No. The market is on Plaça de la Independència, in the center. In 2025 the rink and ice slide were at the Palau de Fires in Parc de la Devesa, about a 10-minute walk away.

The market is free. In 2025 the rink was €12 an hour including skate rental, the ice slide was €4 for four runs, and gloves were required on the ice. Lleuresport, the kids' Christmas park, was €5 for anyone over 3.

Is there something for little kids?

Yes. Lleuresport, Girona's big kids' Christmas park, fills the Sant Narcís sports complex with play areas for every age from babies to teens. In 2025 it opened Dec 29 and 30 and Jan 2 and 3, 3:30pm to 8pm.

What about holiday hours?

In 2025 the rink closed on Christmas Day, closed at 7pm on Dec 24 and 31, and opened at 4pm on Jan 1. The market closed at 7pm on Dec 24, Dec 31 and Jan 5.

About

Girona's old town, with its colored houses over the Onyar river, makes a storybook setting for Christmas. The market fills the arcaded Plaça de la Independència with wooden stalls selling nativity figures, Tiós, wooden toys and torrons, the almond nougat Catalans eat at Christmas. The ice rink is the kids' favorite: covered, with a separate ice slide where children race down three lanes on sleds.
