Do adults have to pay as well?

Yes. The €2 covers your child's spot and includes museum entry, but any adults coming along need to buy their own museum ticket too, so budget for the grown-ups as well.

Does my child need to understand Catalan?

The workshop is run in Catalan and leans on spoken instructions and reading, so kids who follow Catalan or Spanish will get the most from it. Younger or non-Catalan-speaking kids may find parts hard to keep up with.

Can we bring a younger sibling along?

It's pitched at kids 8 to 12, and the hieroglyph-reading and ritual steps are aimed at that age, so a much younger sibling will likely lose interest in a quiet museum setting.

About

The ancient Egyptians believed in magic. Not the magic of tricks, wands and cards, but ancient spells and enchantments meant to bring mummies back to life. You can still find traces of it in their sacred writing, the hieroglyphs, in the painted scenes inside the pharaohs' tombs, and in the objects used in their rituals. In this family workshop at the Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya, you'll step into the symbolic world of Egyptian ritual: activate amulets, take part in a mummification, and even read hieroglyphs together. It runs on four Sunday mornings in February and is built for families with children aged 8 to 12.
