Can young kids see the castells in the crowd?

Plaça del Blat is small and fills fast. Arrive well before the 12:15pm start, or watch from the edges of the square where the crowd thins. Shoulders help.

Is the correfoc safe to watch with kids?

Devils run with sparklers through the streets, so stand well back, cover ears and eyes for little ones, and wear cotton clothes with long sleeves and a hat if you want to get close.

What is there for kids besides the towers?

The Fira Canalla on Passeig dels Caputxins runs a collaborative mural, lettering and casteller doll workshops, pop-up postcards, wooden games and an 8-meter castell bouncy tower. The Fira Castells next to it has about 40 workshops, demos and games.

About

Valls is the cradle of castells, the Catalan human towers, and Santa Úrsula is its biggest day. The town's two colles, the Vella and the Joves, build their hardest towers side by side in Plaça del Blat, with a kid climbing to the top of each. Around it come giants, a correfoc fire run, medieval reenactments and a kids' fair with craft workshops and a castell-shaped bouncy tower.
