Upcoming: Three Kings Parade in Barcelona

In Catalonia the Reis, the Three Kings, bring the main presents on the night of January 5, and that evening the whole city turns out to welcome them. Melcior, Gaspar and Baltasar sail into the old port, then ride across the center on giant lit-up floats with dancers, stilt walkers, live music and a crowd of patges, their royal helpers. Kids love the sweets thrown from the floats, waving at their favorite king and spotting Page Estel with her star. Royal mail carriers collect last-minute letters along the way, and bedtime comes early that night, since the presents arrive while children sleep.
