How do we get up to the entrance?

From Plaça d'Espanya (metro L1/L3) it is a long flight of steps up Montjuïc, but outdoor escalators run alongside them to the museum door, which helps with strollers and tired legs.

Can we get to the rooftop view?

Yes. A lift inside takes you to the terraces, and the viewpoint over the city and the fountain is included with standard admission.

Is there anything for younger kids to do?

The museum runs weekend and holiday family workshops tied to the collections; check the website's activities calendar before you go, as places are often booked ahead.

About

The museum fills the Palau Nacional, the domed 1929 palace above the Magic Fountain on Montjuïc. Inside, whole apses of 11th- to 13th-century church frescoes are mounted in curved rooms, alongside Gothic altarpieces, Renaissance and baroque paintings, and modern Catalan work by Gaudí, Casas, and Dalí. Rooftop terraces open onto a long view down to Plaça d'Espanya.
