What you need to know

  • Rooftop sculpture terrace with open-air Miró works and a wide view over the city, a break from the galleries
  • Set expectations, Miró's most famous paintings are in Paris, not here.
  • Skylit, AC galleries stay cool in summer and are stroller-friendly across one main floor

About

Joan Miró's own collection of paintings, sculptures, tapestries, and drawings fills the white Josep Lluís Sert building on Montjuïc, with skylit galleries built around courtyards. Kids gravitate to the big bright colors and odd bronze creatures, Calder's Mercury Fountain behind glass, and the rooftop sculpture terrace that looks out over the city.
