What is Castanyoween?

The name joins Castanyada, the Catalan chestnut festival around All Saints on November 1, with Halloween. This street party celebrates both on the same evening.

Does the haunted passage cost extra?

The 2026 price hasn't been published yet, and entry to the street party itself is free. In 2025 the passatge del terror cost 2 euros in advance or 3 euros on the day. Advance tickets were sold at neighborhood shops, including Quin Lor (Carrer de Felip II 191), Xavier Fruites i Verdures (Felip II 170), Ferreteria Rosell (Carrer de la Manigua 7) and Naturasi Manduca (Carrer de Garcilaso 191).

Is the haunted passage OK for young kids?

In 2025 kids under 10 could go in only with an adult, and the organizers did not recommend it for pregnant women or people with heart conditions. It is a real scare passage, so with a little one, walk past the entrance first and decide together.

Are there workshops for kids?

Not announced for 2026 yet. In 2025 the craft shop Del Blau al Groc ran two in its tent on Carrer de Garcilaso: spooky crafts for kids at 12pm and neon Katrina masks for ages 10 and up at 5:30pm. Each cost 2 euros for materials, places were limited, and you booked up to an hour before by phone (641 150 942) or at hola@delblaualgroc.com.

Castanyoween joins two autumn traditions on one evening: the Castanyada, Catalonia's chestnut festival around All Saints, and Halloween. The shopkeepers' association of El Congrés i els Indians hosts it on Carrer de Garcilaso, with activities from neighborhood groups and stalls from local shops and restaurants. A haunted passage (passatge del terror) runs from 5pm to 10pm, and the cover band Trambólicos plays from 10pm to midnight.
