What you need to know
- Hands-on experiments, not lectures: kids create smoke rings while learning gas physics
- No younger siblings, the center cancels any signup for a child outside the 6-12 range
- One adult joins each child: signups are for one child plus one adult, and families with two or three kids email the center to book instead
About
Discover the story of Katherine Johnson, NASA's "human calculator" who calculated the Apollo 11 trajectory to the Moon. Led by Lutravioleta, this workshop explores how Johnson overcame racial segregation to become a pioneering mathematician and scientist. Children create perfect smoke toroids of their own, learning through hands-on experimentation how gases move in the atmosphere and in space.
