What you need to know

  • Sung in Italian, with surtitles in Catalan and Spanish projected above the stage so you can follow the plot.
  • Evening curtain, around 3 hours, best for older kids and teens who can sit through a long show.
  • A playful, candy-coloured staging built around a giant wedding cake, which keeps the eye busy even when the singing runs long.

About

Mozart's comic masterpiece returns to the Liceu in a bold new staging by director Marta Pazos, built around a giant wedding cake that doubles as the social pyramid the characters scheme their way up. Conductor Giovanni Antonini leads a cast including Luca Pisaroni, André Schuen, Samuel Hasselhorn, Sara Blanch and Anna Prohaska across a run of evening and Sunday performances through mid-June. Sung in Italian with surtitles in Catalan and Spanish.
