How do we know which shops are taking part?

In 2024 and 2025 the shopkeepers' association (ACIB) handed out a map of participating stores at Plaça del Poeta Boscà, and around twenty member shops took part in 2025. The 2026 map and meeting point haven't been published yet; we'll add them here when they are.

What time should we go?

The 2026 city listing only says during shop opening hours on Friday. In 2025 there was a kids' show at 6pm in Plaça del Poeta Boscà and the candy route started at 7pm.

Do kids need a costume?

It isn't required, but ACIB's own invitation opens with "Estàs disfressad@?" (are you in costume?), so dressing up is the expected look.

Barceloneta metro (L4) is about a 6-minute walk from Plaça del Poeta Boscà, in the middle of the neighborhood's grid of streets.

For the Castanyada and Halloween weekend, Barceloneta's shopkeepers' association (ACIB) turns the neighborhood's stores into a trick-or-treat route. Kids in costume go from shop to shop asking for candy, the way Barceloneta families have done at the end of October for the last few years.
