How crowded does it get?

Evenings and weekends get packed with locals and tourists. For the quietest visit, aim for a weekday morning: the decorations look just as good at 10am as they do at 8pm.

What's there for kids to do besides look at decorations?

There's free daytime programming scattered across the neighborhood, plus the gegants parades (giant figures carried through the streets) and the Correfoc Infantil, a smaller, kid-friendly version of the fire run with music and sparklers instead of actual fire. The decorations themselves are the main event though, so if your kids are into spotting details and taking photos, they'll be entertained for hours.

Do I need to plan which streets to hit, or can we just wander?

The official website has a map showing which neighborhood commission decorated which street and what their theme is that year. It's worth checking if you're short on time, but wandering works too: the whole neighborhood is decorated. Pick a metro stop in Gràcia and start exploring.

Where can we find bathrooms?

Public bathrooms are the tricky part, so have everyone go before you head out or duck into a café when you need one. Gràcia's main streets are lined with bars and restaurants that stay open during the festival, and you're never more than a 10-minute walk from somewhere to grab a drink and use the facilities.

What you need to know

Mornings and early afternoons are the calm window. The decorated streets belong to families until the dinner crowds arrive, and they are easy to walk with a stroller early in the day.
Funfair rides at the Jardinets de Gràcia, at the top of Passeig de Gràcia, open 11am to 11pm daily through Aug 21 and later on festa nights.
Kids get their own program: daytime children's activities (activitats infantils) in the squares, and the Correfoc Infantil, a child-scale version of the fire run.
