What you need to know

  • Largely traffic-free, with cars on just one side, so toddlers can roam the open paving
  • Plane-tree shade over most of the square, with cafe terraces for a coffee while kids play
  • Modest play equipment, so pair it with a nearby playground if your kids want more to climb on

About

One of Gràcia's prettiest squares, fronted by the 1884 Sant Joan church and lined with cafe terraces from three rival bars. Cars pass on only one side, so the open paved space stays calm enough for kids to run around. At the center sits the Font de Rut, a 1949 drinking fountain topped by a bronze statue. Sunday mornings often bring lindy hop dancers.
