What you need to know

  • Bronze statue on a bench that kids can sit beside for a photo, in a quiet corner of Gràcia
  • Eixample plan in the pavement at the statue's feet, the city layout Rovira i Trias designed but never got to build
  • Little play equipment, so pair it with the playgrounds at Plaça d'en Joanic or Lesseps a few minutes away

About

The seated bronze of 19th-century architect Antoni Rovira i Trias rests on a real stone bench, and kids can climb up beside him for a photo. Set into the pavement at his feet is a bronze relief of his rejected 1859 plan for the Eixample. The traffic-free square is quieter than Plaça del Sol, with café terraces around the edges.
