About
Late October is harvest time in the towns inland from Barcelona. In the Montseny the fair is all about chestnuts, roasted over open fires, and guides lead walks through centuries-old groves. Out on the plains, farmers weigh their biggest pumpkins and kids paint small ones to take home. Other towns retell their witch legends, with whole villages dressing up for puppets, street theater, music and fire.

- By car from Barcelona, Viladrau, Calaf and Sant Feliu Sasserra are each about 1 hour 15 minutes away, and Pratdip about 1 hour 45 minutes. Girona is the one to do by train: high-speed trains from Barcelona Sants take about 40 minutes. Plan for village parking on fair days.
