Question 1

Which concerts should we aim for if we're bringing kids?

Accepted Answer

The early sets (Sunset Rhythm Kings at noon and Quiet Colors at 1:45pm) suit kids best, while their energy is still high. Sunset Rhythm Kings plays classic New Orleans jazz that's fun and easy to recognize, and Quiet Colors brings special guests. Skip the sets after 7pm unless your kids are older and can handle a long day.

Question 2

Is it good for kids, or mainly for jazz fans?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your kids. Younger ones often enjoy the street energy and dancing, but if they aren't into live music they'll get bored after a set or two. Older kids (10+) who can sit through a concert or wander around get the most out of it. If your kids need constant activity, skip it.

Question 3

How long should we plan to stay?

Accepted Answer

You don't need to do the whole day. Most families get the most out of 2-3 hours, catching two or three concerts and the street atmosphere. Music-loving kids may want to stay longer, but the full day is a lot for most families.

Question 4

What should we bring?

Accepted Answer

Bring water and snacks for the kids, especially if you're staying more than a couple of hours. Sunscreen and hats are essential since it's open-air on a major avenue with little shade.
