What you need to know
- Lift up the towers for close-up views of the spires and the city, though the descent is a narrow 300-step spiral staircase
- Kids' audio guide track turns the carved façades and columns into a story they can follow
- Strollers welcome on the main floor, which is flat and reached by lift, so the interior works for all ages
About
Gaudí's still-unfinished basilica, started in 1882 and topping out at over 170 meters. Inside, branching stone columns rise like a forest while morning and afternoon sun pours through walls of red, blue, and green stained glass. The audio guide has a kids' track, the carved Nativity and Passion façades work like a picture book, and a lift carries visitors up one of the towers.
