Question 1

Which celebration is easiest to bring young kids to?

Accepted Answer

Palm Sunday morning is the simplest. At 11:30am palms are blessed at Sant Eugeni (c. Londres, 40) and a short procession walks to the Mare de Déu del Pilar on c. Casanova. On Good Friday a via crucis follows the same route at noon. Both are outdoors, brief, and easy to watch on foot.

Question 2

Do we need to be Catholic or book ahead to attend?

Accepted Answer

No. The parish Masses, palm blessings and processions are open to anyone and free to drop into. Just keep things quiet inside the churches.

Question 3

How do we get into the Sagrada Família celebrations?

Accepted Answer

Capacity is limited and free passes are needed. For the Palm Sunday Mass you collect them beforehand at the pastoral office on c. Sardenya, 318; on other days the doors open about an hour early, so arrive with time to spare. Everything is also streamed live on the basilica's website if you can't get in.

Question 4

Are the outdoor processions stroller-friendly?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Eixample's sidewalks are wide and flat, and you can slip away whenever the kids have had enough.
