The Festes de Sant Josep Oriol are the festa major of the Barri del Pi, filling the squares and narrow streets around the Basílica de Santa Maria del Pi with popular Catalan culture across ten days each March. The Gegants del Pi, among the oldest giants in Catalonia, lead most of the acts alongside the Lleó and Mulassa of Barcelona, castellers, grallers and bestiari. Families can catch the children's parade with the neighborhood schools, the Passejada dels Oriols with its shower of chocolate coins, a giants' meet-up that draws figures from across Catalonia, and a closing tronada of fireworks from the basilica bell tower. Most acts take place outdoors in the open squares, so you can wander in and out at your own pace.
